She creates with her two sisters and her brother an imaginary character that they stage in various tales.Emily had big relationship problems with the outside world.She was a teacher, but she had given up this job.In 1842, she went to Europe, to Brussels, where she learned French and piano. When she returns, she becomes the housekeeper of the presbytery and divides her time between writing and walking on the moor.She is author of many poems of high quality. Also, with her two sisters, they published, at the author's expense, a collection in 1846. But because of prejudices and to reach a general public, Emily took the masculine name of Ellis Bell.On behalf of the author too, and under her masculine name, Emily then published in 1847 her only novel Wuthering Heights. This work is considered a classic of English literature.She takes care of her brother become alcoholic after a disappointment in love. At her funeral in 1848, Emily, takes cold and refuses to heal.
