Eisner, Michael D. (Author)
Michael D. Eisner was born on March 7, 1942 in Mount Kisco, New York. He attended and graduated from Denison University in 1964 with a B.A. in English. Soon thereafter, Barry Diller at ABC hired him as Assistant to the National Programming Director. He soon became senior vice-president in charge of programmng and development. In 1976 Barry Diller had moved on to become chairman of Paramount Pictures and recruited Michael Eisner from ABC and made him president and CEO of the movie studio. In 1984 Disney brought Michael Eisner and former Warner Brothers chief Frank Wells on board to replace Ron Miller. During the second half of the 1980's and early 1990's Disney became revitalized - beginning with The Little Mermaid. During the 1990's Michael Eisner set out to plan the "Disney Decade" which was to feature new parks, park expansions and new films. Between 2003 and 2005 there were some management changes at Disney and Michael Eisner announced in March 2005 that he would step down as CEO. On October 5, 2005 he hosted "The Charlie Rose Show". After this, CNBC President Mark Hoffman hird him in early 2006 to host his own talk show, Conversations with Michael Eisner. The show features CEO's, political leaders and actors.
