More DescriptionDave came to wildlife photography because of two things: his love of wild land and animals and his work as a professional filmmaker and visual artist. As his artistic sensibility developed, he discovered the it was important for his work as a photographer to be directly connected to his other work as a visual artist. As a painter and filmmaker, he learned that the structure of the two-dimensional image is supreme and to that important idea is added the concept of expressing the subtle and powerful experience of being in the presence of a wild animal. He does not seek the perfect image. He seeks the extraordinary image. This is his first work as a poet. He has worked as a lyricist for many years and loves reading the poetry of Ted Hughes, Sylvia Plath, Anne Sexton and William Blake. He discovered the the Haiku verse was unexpectedly easy to write; perhaps because it was such fun. It is difficult for Dave to write about being a poet except to say that poetry cannot be explained. It is mysterious, like a wild animal.
