The Muizz Street is considered one of the oldest places that trace each dynasty and elaborates its own message. In all dynasties, the Muizz Street acted as the most focal spot in the city. Its design is based on Fatimid s conception the new city of the time. Its importance continued through ages of Egypt s history including Ayubid, Mamluk and ottomans. This is showed through the competition of rulers to locate their buildings in that area even with the lack of space. While in the present time it s an important historical place as it still has its identity and character. As a respect to its history, the government interfered to protect the site and nourish it with different activities that attract tourists. Therefore, designing a project in Islamic Cairo has different aspects that should be respected as users there are classified to three different criteria locals, tourist and visitors. So the question is to which criteria should design go and what is the building program are they going to share?
