More DescriptionThe Point System-DESCRIPTIONThe Point System is a story of new beginnings and new experiences, both symbolically as well as literally for every boy and girl entering middle school. Eleven-year-old Josephine Chappell (Josie) tells the story of her first year in middle school and of the discipline system used by her academic team, The Point System. Josie attended Phyllis Wheatley Elementary School from first through fifth grades. In fact, her parents bought the home in the neighborhood where they live so that Josie and her siblings (if they had other children) would be able to attend Phyllis Wheatley Elementary School Phyllis and Booker T. Washington Middle School. Josie loved her elementary school. To her, it was another home away from home. But middle school is a whole new world. She doesn't already know all of the teachers like she did at Wheatley. She doesn't already know most of the kids; she doesn't take all of her classes from one teacher. She is not already sure of what is expected of her, of how she is suppose to act and react. She no longer feels sure of herself.Adding to her feelings of insecurity at school, Josie has a new baby brother at home who still has to "get used to things." Manuel, (who is called Man by everyone in the family), wakes the whole household early Saturday mornings. Man gets a lot of the attention that was Josie's sole domain before he made his appearance. Josie no longer feels special at school, and is beginning to doubt the specialness that she has always taken for granted at home. But the story is more than Josie's. It's the story of thousands of boys and girls throughout the United States who leave the comfortable niches of their elementary schools each year to begin their journeys into adolescence. The Point System, seen through Josie's eyes and experiences, is at times poignant, at times funny and at times revealing. It's a must read for every fifth and sixth grade child. It's a must read for the parents of every fifth and sixth grade child. It will delight and entertain, but more importantly, it will enlighten.ISBN-13: 978-1514130155 ISBN-10: 1514130157 Your book has been assigned a CreateSpace ISBN.
