Her grammy explained to her that the diary is a very special book; it is not just some papers with lines on them. “The diary is your friend. You can talk to it, and it will listen; just write down your feelings, hopes, and dreams or things that have happened through the day.” Shasta’s grammy gave her a golden key and told her that it was made just for this book. Grammy told Shasta that she was aware of her dreams and how they came true. Shasta tested her diary key, opened and closed the book, ran to her bedroom and hid the diary in her favorite throw pillow on her bed. So it was safe for a while.
