Richard Phillips (November 21, 1778 -- May 11, 1851) was a distinguished British chemist and became a fellow of the Royal Society in 1822. He was one of the founding members of the Chemical Society in 1841 and became its president in 1849, holding the position until his death. He was also prominent in the British Association. Phillips worte A Translation of the Pharmacopoeia of the Royal College of Physicians, of London, 1824, among other works related to chemical research.
