More DescriptionThis guide is not an instruction manual. As a parent, you need to understand that a manual offering tactics and specific steps to take in specific situations would not help you. Rather, I offer you a guiding philosophy that will inform you and allow you to meet each situation with a set of principles that will help you guide your behavior. It will help you, the parent, understand and develop the skills necessary to be a successful parent. Those skills are the ones that parents need to possess in order to open that channel or to create that connection between them and their children. Lastly, this guide involves your willingness as a parent to focus on yourself rather than studying a set of specific ideas to follow by rote in specific situations. I want you to focus on yourself. When something goes wrong or when the parents are confused, they focus on the child. They try to devise strategies for dealing with their children. Most parents find this is an extremely frustrating experience. Our goal is to redirect parents' attention away from devising strategies for dealing with their children. It is to get them thinking more about themselves and the changes that they need to make in order to be the parents they want to be. The more that you learn about yourself, the more the experience between you and your child will be a meaningful one.
