More DescriptionThis book contains six selected short stories written by the author. The first tale (Oh Billy, Billy...We Hardly Knew Ya) is the title story of this book. This story has an alternate ending that is happier than what supposedly happened to Billy the Kid. The second story (Jackalopes) is a love story about a double sighting of two jackalopes, while the main character is en route to San Francisco, to attempt to entice his girlfriend back to Dallas, Texas, and to him. The third tale (The Weeping Woman- La LLorona) is based in part on the old Mexican folktale about La Llorona, or the Weeping Woman, who marries a handsome but shallow womanizer. She later comes to regret her decision and takes some desperate steps. The fourth story (Silkies) is not based in the southwest region of this nation or in Mexico. Instead, it is based in modern Scotland. It is about a silkie (a mythological creature: a seal in the sea, but a human on land.) It is a love story. The fifth story (Doubloons) is about time-travel back to the 17th century when pirates roamed the coast of North Carolina. The final, sixth tale (Salem) is about a female doctor who is so enamored of the medical achievements in the 17th century of her own ancestor that she decides to take her vacation in Salem to find out more about him. When she does her ancestor's actions are examined and cause disillusion.
