More DescriptionThis report discusses the progress made by OECD countries towards targets established in 2001, as part of an agreed strategy by OECD Environment Ministers to promote environmentally sustainable policies. The strategy included five key objectives: maintaining the integrity of ecosystems through the efficient management of natural resources; decoupling environmental pressures from economic growth; improving information for decision-making and measuring progress through indicators; links between social and environmental factors and enhancing the quality of life; and global environmental interdependence and improving governance and co-operation. The report highlights the challenges and obstacles that remain if countries are to achieve the objectives by the planned date of 2010.
