More Description
Magnetic Semiconductors and their Spintronics Applications explores one of the promising materials systems towards the realization of spin-based electronics. It is expected that semiconductor-based materials with magnetic or spin-related properties can lead to new devices that can use not only the charge of electrons and holes but also their spins.
Fabricating such new materials and artificial nanostructures, including heterostructures (HSs), quantum wells (QWs), and granular nanoparticle structures, has been the fertile ground for novel functionalities, such as spin dependent transport, magneto-resistance, and magneto-optical effects. For more than 20 years, many studies have been carried out on spintronic materials and devices with nonvolatiles and reconfigurable logic functions.
The book provides an overview of the most promising materials research on ferromagnet/semiconductor heterostructures, III-V based magnetic semiconductor thin films and heterostructures , III-V/MnAs nano-composite structures and new narrow-gap ferromagnetic semiconductors. The book also addresses devices including III-V based magnetic tunnel junctions, spin MOSFETs, reconfigurable logic devices, and single-electron spin-transistors (SEST).
Magnetic Semiconductors and their Spintronics Applications provides valuable insight into the future direction of electronic materials and devices in the post-scaling era.
- Includes content on III-V based magnetic tunnel junctions and heterojunction-type spin transistors
- Addresses group-IV based materials and spin transistors (spin MOSFETs and reconfigurable logic devices)
- Explores new narrow-gap ferromagnetic semiconductors, heterostructures, and device applications
