An excerpt from the book:
Being from a sports family is not easy. Most people believe that those who are born into a sports families are destined for success. In fact, most of them will likely continue their family "tradition" and play a sport of some form; probably the same game as their parents. However, they often face a tougher time getting to the top because of the high expectations placed on them due to their family's success.
Joakim Noah is just one of those guys. His father was a real tennis star in the 80's, but Joakim did not have the desire to play tennis like his father. Instead, he fell in love with basketball and dedicated his time and effort into becoming a great basketball player. He is one of the most passionate players in the NBA right now and plays every game like it is his last. Bull fans adore him for stepping up his game and persevering through a foot injury after Derrick Rose was injured. Rose evolved as Chicago's superstar player and is the face of the franchise, but his injury opened up opportunities for other players on the roster to step up as leaders. Without Rose, the 2011-12 postseason caught the Bulls unprepared as they ended their season abruptly after only five games. Noah finished the series in Game 3 because of an ankle injury, but the Bulls had an entire summer to recover and think about what to do in the absence of their key player.
Things were working quite well for the Bulls during the 2012-13 season, mostly thanks to the leadership that Noah showed. However, playing with only seven or eight players during the entire season was just too much for a tired Bulls team as they faced the defending Miami Heat in the second round of 2013 playoffs.
