This work is based on a huge, and hitherto unexamined part of the estate of the historian Maja Loehr. Loehr was the daughter of one of Rott's and Mahler's closest friends, the archaeologist Friedrich Loewy/Loehr, who collected Rott's manuscripts (music, documents, etc.) and letters from Rott and his friends. In 1949 she wrote Rott's biography, but the work remained unpublished and for a long time was considered lost. It is published in this book for the first time.
