Part of the author¿s military history is biographical, the focus remains on David¿s development as a spiritual warrior, his trials and heartbreaks as friends and lovers become fair game in the deadly standoff between these forces. Maridon uses the drug trade to enslave his earthly legion, as well as intelligent operatives keen on developing their own psychic cadre. David faces-off with OSI Agent Steven Bullard, who wants to recruit him into such a program, and his refusal creates a deadly adversary who will stalk him throughout his career. After the murder of girlfriend Linda Cross by drug traffickers, David is transferred stateside. While training as an air traffic controller, he meets up with an old Cajun friend, Beaux Boudreau, from training camp, who has a security police crew on his base in Mississppi. After telling Beaux about this recent ordeal, he takes him out into the bayous to meet his ¿Auntie.¿ A formidable psychic and spiritual adept, Ami reads David like nobody ever has and reveals some of the missing pieces to his developmental puzzle. As it turns out, Beaux¿s whole family are spiritual warriors, and he anchors David in this realm while Ami takes him on a fateful journey beyond the veil. There he meets the ¿Guardians¿ from his childhood visions, who together with their legion of light-bearers battle Maridon and his ghoulish army. David discovers that these two ancient warriors are aspects of him and Ami from earlier lives together, and this allows him to overcome his reluctance to take up the ¿sword¿ and do battle against Maridon and his legion.
