This book examines the impact of legal systems derived from British common law on the colonised peoples of Trinidad and Western Australia. It is argued that while the economic exploitation of colonised peoples remains the (hidden?) agenda of such legal systems, the symbolism of the criminalised Australian Aboriginal and Afro-Trinidadian masks this economic exploitation at the same time as it perpetuates and ratifies the colonial impetus.
