Author Biography
Angrist, Shirley S. (Author)
A pioneer American feminist sociologist, Jessie Bernard conducted groundbreaking research in the area of gender roles and the changing character of the family. She studied with Pitirim A. Sorokin at the University of Minnesota and received her Ph.D. from Washington University in 1935.

Bernard began her career in sociology as a promoter of social positivism but later became an outspoken feminist. She is perhaps best known for her work on gender roles and the future of relationships between men and women.
