More DescriptionMy purpose in this paper is to introduce you--a prospective or new therapy participant--to the process of long-term depth therapy. I want to help you understand how the therapy process works, how you can get the most from your time in therapy and what you can expect from your therapist and from yourself (as well as from your family) regarding the therapeutic endeavor. I hope that I can make your therapy endeavor a richer, deeper and fundamentally more successful experience. I encourage you to read this paper slowly, to return to sections that you do not understand and, most importantly, to discuss anything that is unclear with your therapist. I designed my discussion to stimulate questions, to open up a dialogue and to deepen your understanding of the therapy process over time. Please feel free to share this paper with your family members. Discuss issues that pertain to them, and explore with them how they can help make your therapy (whether individual, marital or family) more successful.
