The connection of the two cities through two states by rail enabled the riches from Broken Hill to be shipped to the world. The asset of having a shipping port alongside the smelters proved extremely profitable. 'Tracks into the Past' in a way, tracks my journey researching the history of my ancestors, the smelters, the rail and the riches.
From this journey I have created a series of etchings telling the story of these connections from the discovery of Broken Hill's silver, lead and zinc deposits and the rise of Pt Pirie's smelting industry when they were at their peak.
