Emily Maguire was born in Canaberra, Australia in 1976. She became a professional writer in her mid-twenties. She worked for the National Roads and Motorists' Association and Telstra Corporation Limited. Her articles and essays on sex, religion and culture have been published in newspapers and journals including The Sydney Morning Herald, The Financial Review, The Age and the Observer. She is the author of the non-fiction work, Princesses and Pornstars. Her novels include Taming the Beast, The Gospel According to Luke, Smoke in the Room, Fishing for Tigers, and An Isolated Incident.
