Pierre Finkestein, director and instructor at the Pierre Finkelstein Institute of Decorative Painting, also owns Grand Illusion Decorative Painting, Inc., which specializes in decorative painting finishes and research and consulting for high-end residential properties and museums. His book, The Art of Faux: The Complete Sourcebook of Decorative Painted Finishes (1997), is aimed at professionals and dedicated amateurs. He also coauthored the best selling book, Recipes for Surfaces (1990).
Finkelstein is a 1986 Gold Medal graduate of the Van Der Kellen Painting Institute in Brussels. He was awarded the title of Best Craftsman in France by the French government in 1990 for his decorative painting.
