Following the completion of the Fourth Supplementary Series (E IV) of the Beilstein Handbook, a general index, The Centennial Index, is being produced. It contains the names of all compounds described in the Basic Series (Hauptwerk), and in the First, Second, Third and Fourth Supplementary Series, covering "180 Years of Organic Chemistry". Earlier rational names, constructed according to now-superceded principles of nomenclature, have been re- placed with names created using appropriate IUPAC-sanctioned rules, as used in the Fourth Supplementary Series. The Centennial Index, containing over 1.2 million compounds, provides complete and easy access to the entire, critically evaluated, information contained in the Beilstein Handbook. The Centennial Index is an indispens- able aid for chemists engaged in research, development, and commercial and governmental regulatory work, as well as for scientists of other disciplines. The General Compound-Name Index comprises ten volumes and will be completed by the end of 1991. The General Formula Index, with thirteen volumes, will follow in 1992. Mit #65533;ber 1.2 Millionen Verbindungsnamen er#65533;ffnet das Generalregister dem Benutzer einen umfassenden und bequemen Zugang zu den im Beilstein-Handbuch zusammengetragenen, kritisch gesichteten Informationen. Der Centennial Index ist so f#65533;r den in Forschung, Anwendung und Administration t#65533;tigen Chemiker sowie f#65533;r Wissenschaftler verwandter Disziplinen eine unentbehrliche Hilfe. Das General-Sachregister (Verbindungsnamen-Register) umfa#65533;t 10 Teilb#65533;nde und erscheint bis Ende 1991. Das General-Formelregister mit 13 B#65533;nden folgt 1992.
